Thomas White
Elementary Teacher and Teacher Leader

Thomas White has been a classroom teacher for 26 years, working mostly with young children. He has primarily taught in Seattle, Washington, where he grew up and currently lives with his wife and two sons. He also spent a year teaching in Australia.

In addition to working with children, he spends a considerable amount of time working with adult learners, presenting teacher-training workshops and facilitating discussion groups. Most of his work with adults is focused on National Board Certification, a process whereby American teachers attain the highest certification level in the country by compiling a portfolio of their work, along with written analysis and reflection. He also works for the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, examining and reporting on American teacher colleges.

In 2004, Mr. White was selected by the National Education Association as one of five recipients for the annual Award for Teaching Excellence.
